2017 National NAIDOC Theme – Our Languages Matter – NAIDOC Week will be held from 2 to 9 July 2017.

The Australian Government supports NAIDOC Week as an opportunity to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, achievements and contributions to modern Australia.

Will the Department be providing funding for NAIDOC Week in 2017? Yes. The Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet will be running a NAIDOC grant funding round in 2017.

NAIDOC grant funding is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations to help meet the costs of local NAIDOC activities such as flag raising ceremonies, family days, art exhibitions and other cultural activities.

This will be a separate funding round from any activity in the Indigenous Advancement Strategy.

Who can apply for NAIDOC funding? Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous legal entities may apply for NAIDOC Grant funding.

Preference may be given to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, or to activities that will have a higher rate of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation.

How can we apply? You will need to apply for funding through a separate NAIDOC grants funding round run through the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

There will be an application kit which includes guidelines and an electronic application form which you will need to complete. Once the round has opened, these can be found at dpmc.gov.au

When will NAIDOC funding be available? We expect the NAIDOC local grant funding round to open late March 2017.
